The 17th century palace of Alsisar is an epitome of grandeur and rich heritage. Alsisar Mahal exudes regalia of Royal Rajasthani lifestyle, the most fascinating and breathtaking being Badal Mahal. To top most floor of Alsisar Mahal has this kaleidoscopic Badal Mahal, which means “Palace in the Clouds” The arresting Badal Mahal encloses magnificent halls with jack-arched alley and multi hued windows. The walls and domed ceiling of the palace are festooned with exquisite paintings. These paintings are beautifully blended with soft furnishing and vibrant lanterns; all inspired by the refreshing monsoon clouds. With the yellow, blue and golden depiction of monsoon clouds, the entire aura of Badal Mahal is beyond your imagination. Total 25 painters worked for 2.5 months for 8 hours each to hand paint these clouds in Badal Mahal. It was constructed in the Hindu Year Vikramsamvat 2070, under the 8th generation of the rulers of Alsisar. This 21st century edifice is typical of the region of Shekhawati; a mix of Rajput and Mughal styles of architecture.
